March Update from CFI

Pastors Seminar at Kafanchan

We just returned from holding a Pastors Seminar in Kafanchan, about two hours west of Jos. This morning we had services in our various branches in Jos and Henry is returning to Jos after looking at a new mission station in Bauchi State. The church I was in this morning sang beautifully “Nagodai”, which in Hausa is “Thank you”. This afternoon we are going into Jos radio for this week’s on air Bible study which goes through the whole north of Nigeria.

Bauchi Missions

Below, Jim Holdcroft speaks in one of CFI’s classes. We still have plenty of new students coming into the college. The man interpreting below (on the left) is David, the son of an Islamic king. He has been seriously persecuted for many years. He is studying at degree level now with CFI and wants to join CFI staff when finished to do mission work. He spoke in one of our churches last Friday night (which I attended) on Acts 4/5, about unity in sharing in oneness and God not allowing deception into the church. It was very good.

Things remain settled

Dear all,

Thank you for standing with us in the GOSPEL.

The CFI newsletter is going to print for posting in Australia. It briefly summarizes events since last August.

God fought for us

I met another person who described events in his part of the city: They went to the hills above the town to get a clearer view, the Muslims on one hill and the Christians on an apposing hill. The Muslims cried Allah is Great and the Christians cried Praise the Lord. It was a battle. (Sounds like the armies that gathered before Goliath came out.) The Muslims had quality guns, brought in over a period, some hidden in imported food supplies. One had a machine gun on a tripod. The Christians had no guns. When they cried Praise the Lord the Muslims became confused and the Christians ran them out.

Arrived Safely

Supplies for Jos

We have packed 26 boxes of clothes, books, children’s books and Bibles for Jos and they leave tomorrow. These have been gifts from friends in the UK. Among these are many clothes for children, which come at the right time to help those in Jos. Kent also leaves for Jos tomorrow. He is also taking back gifts of supplies for the staff and their families.

Nehemiah's Sword & Trowel

Intro remarks...

In the hustle of life you sometimes forget some of your basic motivations and get caught up in rocks, thorns and thistles. But when push comes to shove it is your basic motivations that come to the fore. These are the enduring factors that no span of time or trial can change. When they are the foundation they are always there.

Christians will not give up

Christians in a war zone will not give up! Below we have some pictures that were all taken very close to the CFI compound. Everything around us was burn to the ground. These are Christian properties.

Trust in the Lord - Please pray for Jos

Over the years we have experienced many occasions where we had to look to the Lord alone when making decisions about whether to take our family into Nigeria during dangerous times. On each occasion we heard from God and He was faithful and the work of missions and church planting expanded greatly.
